If you are reading this, I imagine you have played modded minecraft before and know of all the wonders that mods can bring. But do you know the difference between Server and Client side mods?
Server-side Mods
Server-side mods on the other hand are mods that the server can install that add additional features to the server, but the client does not need to have them. Most of these are tied to server performance, utilities, pre-genning, or lag-tracking.

Dynamic Surroundings
Dynamic Surrounding is probably my favorite as it adds not only visual enhancements but audio ones as well. My favorite is the biome sounds such as the ocean, or forest and the rain ripples on water. But a whole list of what it does is listed below:
- Storms
- Auroras
- Biome Sounds
- Footstep Acoustics
- Player Effects
Now the above is a general idea, but for the whole list check out their mod page and their photos here:

Better Foliage
Now this one is pretty great, it’s a weird mix between a texture pack and mod. What it does is pretty simple: Makes trees and grass look better.
How? Well first, it makes trees round. Second, it adds fringes to the leaves – it doesn’t sound like much but take a look for yourself:

So these are my favorite client-side mods that I would recommend to make a more immersive play experience. That being said it doesn’t really end there as far as enhancing immersion. Check out Shaders.
